Perth Wildcats have signed former Sacramento Kings guard Mason Jones to a one-year deal. Jones, 27, was named G League Finals MVP with Stockton in 2025. He averaged 23.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per contest in the G League last season. Jones led the Stockton Kings to the G League championship, averaging 22.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 9.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per contest in the three-game title series against the Osceola Magic. The Perth Wildcats have won a record 10 NBL championships. Jones's departure from the NBA comes after veteran forward Trey Lyles agreed to a deal with Real Madrid. The Sacramento Kings had no room for Jones in a crowded backcourt featuring Dennis Schroder, Zach LaVine, Malik Monk, Keon Ellis, Devin Carter, and Nique Clifford. The Kings are also expected to sign Russell Westbrook. Jones signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets in November 2020 but was waived in March 2021. He then joined the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-way deal and later signed with the Sacramento Kings in February 2024. Jones's move to the Perth Wildcats is arguably the best move for him, given the Kings' crowded backcourt. And with his exceptional numbers in the G League, Jones is set to make an impact in the NBL. But the Perth Wildcats will face tough competition in the upcoming season. So Jones will need to bring his A-game to help the team succeed. The Perth Wildcats' head coach will be looking to utilize Jones's skills to their advantage. Jones's experience in the G League will be valuable in the NBL. He averaged 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.2 steals, and 9.0 minutes per contest in 51 career NBA regular-season games. The Perth Wildcats are looking to make a strong run in the NBL playoffs with Jones on their roster.
